Rules and Set-up
If you are a regular at Ribiere then you can set-up and fish without a full briefing. New anglers must be briefed on fish care and rig rules before casting out. Special rules apply to peg 4. If you are on peg 4 then you need to discuss your approach with me. Please endure you all read the updated rules which are enclosed here. New changes include no use of maggots or nuts, taking all picture in the water and informing me (day or night) of all fish over 25kg on capture so I can verify them. My phone number is +33 (0)6 34 36 60 42.
Facilities
You are able to drive to your swim to unload but all cars must be placed in the car park after you have set-up.
Toilets and showers are open 24/7 and are free for you to use. They have been refurbished to a high standard and we trust that you will respect them.
There is a tackle shop on site. If you need anything just ring me or ask.

Children should be supervised when playing on the trampoline and swings, etc.

All bait orders must be paid for on arrival. Your order and the cost will be confirmed to you via email before your arrival. If you haven’t got a confirmation then I don’t have your order. Orders will be in the fridge and freezer in the main barn and are labelled with your peg number. Additional bait may be ordered during your stay as we make fresh bait twice per week.

Local shops are in Chalus which is just 6km away. Turn left out of the main gate. The main supermarket, Intermarche, is located left at the first set of lights as you enter the village. This is a large supermarket and has everything you need for your stay including a good selection of wine and beer. You will also find local shops if you park in the village including, tobacco, bread and local tabac bar/cafe. Ask for recommendations.

Standards of Behaviour
We are very lucky at Ribiere that we have longstanding customers and as a result we have very high standards of behaviour. Fish care is very good here and we are not subject to anti-social or rowdy behaviour. But from time to time we have guests that do not observe our high standards. Please do not hesitate to inform us of behaviour which you feel is unacceptable. This includes any drunken and abusive behaviour. Or behaviour which is likely to endanger the fish, you or others.

Fishing Tips
Bait – The fish respond to moderate to heavy baiting. During April, May and June you can put a good amount of bait in. You can also bait heavy during September and October. I would advise using less bait during the early season and the summer months. The fish respond to a mix of boilie, maize, pellets and mixed seeds. We supply a HNV boilie which is high in good quality fish meals and is balanced to give the carp all they need. It does very well across the year.
Rigs – Rigs are very personnel but the fish are pressured here so think about lead size, running rigs and anything that will give you something out of the norm. Hook size at some times of the year can be key. As can ensuring your line is not bow string tight.
Resting Pegs – In my view some pegs, not all. Benefit from resting during the day. In particular pegs 7 and 8 which tend to fish better at night and can be rested during the day. Obviously if the fish are in your peg in the day fish for them. They will be in the shallower water May through to June in big numbers.
Spots – It’s critical for you to know what you are fishing on so always use a lead and marker. You need to find the harder sandy areas or other features, holes, deep spots, ledge drop offs etc. Spend Saturday making sure you map your swim out properly. Use the photos from the website as a starting point.

Going out and about
If you are here not just for the fishing then there are a range of facilities with the local area for you to enjoy. They include aquatic centre, local parks with beach and swimming and play areas, go karting, local zoo and site-seeing in the small city of Limoges, famed world-wide for its porcelain. It also has a very comprehensive shopping centre, with bars and restaurants. Please ask for recommendations.
